So, I'm not new to working on MC's but slightly new to British Iron. I have been slowly collecting some must have stuff for these really fun bikes. Withworth wrenches and sockets, TDC tool, fork seal holder,.... and now this fork install tool. You see, most British bikes of this era use external fork springs. Great!, until you try to install the forks through the triple clamps and can't get a grip on the tube to twist it in. So what, grab a set of pliers and scar the new or unobtainium tubes? These were the thoughts as I just wanted the forks back on my '67 TR6R.
This set comes with 7 threaded adapters, a collar that sits on the top clamp and a threaded puller that with pull the fork up the lower clamp and set it lightly into the tapered top clamp so you can install the top fork bolt. It works perfectly for this and I'm thinking it could get lightly stuck fork out with a dead blow hammer and some patience (not in the instructions and your results may vary). Point is the threaded insets engage the fork tubes fully and I had no fear of the tool damaging the parts.
Comes in a nice case also, as the pic shows.
I have a 1965 BSA A50 and this tool made my fork installation easier than I had expected.
I bought this after rebuilding the forks on my A65l- and while they can be reinstalled without this tool its a huge pain in the rear. With the tool its cake.
