Triumph "Updated" Part Number Letter Conversion
In 1973 the Triumph factory introduced and adapted a new numerical part numbering system which would out date the old style "Alpha-Numeric" system. This new system makes old outdated part numbers much easier to bring "Up-To-Date".
A very simple process that will give you much better success in finding the part that you are searching for. Here at Classic British Spares we use the "Up-To-Date" current system. Below are some examples.
Old Part Number | New Part Number |
E2879 (E=70) | 70-2879 |
W1230 (W=37) | 37-1230 |
S1023 (S=21) |
21-1023 |
F8562 (F=82) | 82-8562 |
D4651 (D= 60) | 60-4651 |
E12566 (E1=71) | 71-2566 |
F15689 (F1=83) | 83-5689 |
H2091 (H=97) | 97-2091 |
T1465 (T=57) | 57-1465 |
If you run across a part number H53 for example you must convert the "H" to a two digit number. In this case, "H" would be 97. So now you have 97-53. Part numbers should have a total of 4 digits after the - (dash) and two digits before the dash. Since we have 97-53 you must add two zero's before the 53. 97-0053 is the part number. S-26 = 21-0026.
