Wassell Evolution Triple Carburetors - Choose Carb

  • Sale
  • Regular price $ 199.95
  • 1 available

With the price of Amal Premier Concentric carbs going up, we have started to source (and use) these new Wassell Evolution carbs

Wassell Evolution carbs are the same as Amal Premier carbs but made by "Wassell". In fact, Wassell Evolution carbs use the same pilot jet, main jet, floats, and many other parts as the Amal Premier carb.... so yes they are pretty much the same carb as the Premier at a fraction of the cost. Plus, they are easier to obtain.

In this single listing you will find carburetors suited for both Triumph & BSA triples (T150, A75, T160, etc) from approx 1968-1976 - all carbs are sold each, so you will have to choose which carb you would like. Triples use x1 (LH carb) and X2 (RH carbs)

Use the drop down menu to select which carb you desire - carbs are sold each

First, CBS is great, and kudos for the great service. The Wassells appear to be finely made, and with the exception of the lack of the small lug on the mixing chamber cap, they are very close appearance-wise to the Amal 27mm used on the early T150 Trident. The slide’s interiors are designed slightly different, and it is this difference that makes fitting the top and bottom abutment and throttle spring more difficult than if you were using genuine Amal slides. Not a big negative, but be prepared for a slightly more fiddley (read difficult) installation of the bespoke short T150 throttle cables that you will be harvesting from your Amals. Lastly, while the pilot jet offers more precise fuel adjustment, it is extremely difficult to access their brass fuel needles given the three-across Trident set up. Not a problem with the pilot air screws, but between the finer slots on the fuel needles and the poor accessibility of the outer two carbs it really was a PITA to tune fuel delivery. On the quality of the carb itself, the only complaint I had was the poor quality of the three each bolt and fuel bowl drain sealing rings. All disintegrated once contacted by fuel, and had to be replaced by Amal items. Only a few test miles so far on the bike, but so far so good.
